How the Board Game Picker Wheel works

Open the wheel and it auto-loads 6 board games from the 30-game pool. In Eliminate mode, one game is spun off per round until a single winner is left — the game you play tonight. Use Single Spin if you just need a quick answer. Group Vote works well for larger groups where everyone wants a say.

You can delete any games you don't own from the list before spinning, so only realistic options stay on the wheel. Add your own games by typing them into the input field — especially useful if you have newer games not in the pool, or games that are particular favourites of the group.

Why picking a game is harder than it should be

Game night decisions are deceptively difficult. Everyone has different energy levels — some want something quick and chaotic, others want a strategic deep dive. Someone always suggests Risk; someone else always vetoes it. The discussion about which game to play can eat into actual play time.

The wheel sidesteps all of that by making the decision external. Nobody has to advocate for their game or feel responsible for picking something nobody enjoys. The wheel chose — and that shared attribution makes it easier for everyone to commit fully rather than half-heartedly agree.

Tips for a better game night

Before you spin, do a quick check: how many people are playing, and how much time do you have? If you're short on time, delete longer games (Catan, 7 Wonders, Risk) from the wheel first. If you're a large group, remove two-player games. Spin from a filtered pool and the result will always be something the whole table can play.

Use Group Vote mode for large groups — have everyone vote for their preference, then let the wheel make the final weighted decision. This feels more democratic while still cutting the debate short.
